Rep. Bruce Williamson To Serve as Georgia Public Sector State Chair for the American Legislative Exchange Council

Arlington, VA (May 21, 2014)—Georgia State Representative Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe) has been appointed to serve as the Georgia public sector state co-chair of the American Legislative Exchange Council. Rep. Williamson, who has been a member of ALEC since 2011, also serves on the ALEC Task Force on Commerce, Insurance and Economic Development.

“Rep. Williamson has brought a lot of good ideas to the table, and we are looking forward to his leadership in his new role as the ALEC public sector state chair in Georgia,” said ALEC Executive Director Ron Scheberle.

As the public sector state co-chair, Rep. Williamson will work with public sector state co-chair Sen. Judson Hill and the Georgia private sector chair to introduce the ALEC principles of limited government, free markets and federalism to Georgia legislators and members of the business and policy communities. Rep. Williamson will also be responsible for suggesting legislative task force membership, establishing a state steering committee, planning issue events and communicating ALEC policy positions.

“As a state legislator, ALEC provides me with the resources to make better policy decisions for my constituents, and it is for this reason that I want to help share this resource with others as a state chair,” said Rep. Williamson. “My constituents are at the forefront of all my policy and legislative decisions, and I look forward to working with them and communicating their ideas back to other legislators and business leaders around the country. ALEC is a platform where good ideas are exchanged and great ones are made into model policy.”

The American Legislative Exchange Council is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is the largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization of state legislators in the United States dedicated to the principles of limited government, free markets and federalism. The Council is governed by state legislators who comprise the National Board of Legislators and is advised by the Private Enterprise Advisory Council, a group of private, foundation and think tank members. All ALEC model policy, research reports and public communications can be found at www.alec.org.
