Hundreds of State Legislators will meet in Phoenix to discuss solutions for creating jobs, growing the economy and restoring fiscal order

Washington, DC– On November 30, 2011, legislators from all 50 states will gather in Phoenix, AZ as part of the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) annual States & Nation Policy Summit. Over the course of three days, legislators will focus on free-market solutions to creating jobs, improving education and jumpstarting the American economy.

“As state legislators, our job is to create policies that allow our economy to grow, ensure the protection of citizens and use taxpayer dollars effectively and efficiently,” said ALEC National Chairman Rep. Noble Ellington (LA). “ALEC is an outstanding resource for state legislators to learn from each other’s successes and discuss policy based on principles that will lead to more individual freedom and economic growth.”

Keynote speakers at this year’s Summit include Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, Former Attorney General Edwin Meese III, Dr. Tony Bennett (Superintendent of Public Instruction in Indiana), David Walker (Founder and CEO of Comeback America Initiative) and Premier Brad Wall of Saskatchewan, Canada. Attendees will also hear from policy experts and industry leaders on topics such as health care, fiscal responsibility, education, and energy policy.

ALEC brings together state legislators and private sector representatives to find sound policy solutions to complex issues, focusing primarily on economic growth and fiscal responsibility. ALEC and its members believe that a vibrant private sector is good for the economy and job creation.
