Biography

As Director of Development, Joe Goetz is responsible for the overall strategy of the fundraising and development program and works closely with ALEC donors at all levels of giving, to help promote our shared values of limited government, free markets and federalism across the country. Joe directs the major donor, direct mail and online fundraising campaigns for ALEC, and is the first point of contact for our most generous supporters.

Prior to joining ALEC, Joe spent time working for a nationally recognized political consulting firm, where he led the direct marketing programs of some of the firm’s largest accounts including the NRCC, RNC, various Senate and Congressional campaigns and a number of conservative non-profit programs. A member of the American Association of Political Consultants, Joe has spent time in various capacities across the country working to help elect candidates and increase voter turnout.

Additionally Joe brings a unique background in policy and business experience working for a state and local government affairs firm, as well as managing his family’s restaurant in New York. Joe is a native of Long Island and is a graduate of the University of Connecticut.

In his spare time, Joe enjoys watching his New York Mets, Knicks, Jets and Islanders, although they continue to lose, year after year. Joe resides in Washington DC’s “Navy Yard”, and feels being closer to the Nationals’ home stadium will help the Mets’ chances of bringing home a World Series.
