Trigger Warnings, Microaggressions, and Silencing: How to promote free speech and academic freedom on campus – Workshop

Description

Free speech is under attack on university campuses. Speakers are being disinvited. Open inquiry is being discouraged. What can be done? This workshop will address the pressing issues of free speech and academic freedom from the viewpoint of those most directly affected: students and professors. Panelists will share their personal experiences with and observations of the suppression of free speech on campus. They will also discuss ideas and potential policy solutions for how to guide universities toward becoming places where freedom of speech is encouraged and protected.
