State Legislator of the Month – MO Representative Phil Christofanelli

It is our privilege to announce Missouri House Representative Phil Christofanelli as this month’s recipient of the ALEC-FreedomWorks State Legislator of the Month award. ALEC values the diversity of perspective and believes government works best when it works for all. Representative Christofanelli works tirelessly in Missouri on free market policy, and as an openly gay man offers his perspective to implement policy that ensures his government serves all people. We are honored to profile a legislator who leads on the principles of individual liberty and free enterprise for Pride Month.

Representative Christofanelli has been hard at work sponsoring legislation supporting school choice in Missouri with a bill that awards scholarships to high school students, specifically students in financial need. The scholarship funds will pay for school tuition, tutoring services, transportation and more. This bill allows students to have access to a wide variety of high school options, and it will reduce the inequality gap between wealthy students and poor students. The scholarship program is a big win for school choice advocates in the Show Me State, and illustrates Christofanelli’s dedication to creating choice for students and parents in Missouri.

Christofanelli also received praise this year for passing legislation that improves access to HIV prevention medication through deregulation. The new law, which will go into effect in August 2021, will allow citizens to purchase preexposure and postexposure medication that will reduce the HIV infection rates in the state of Missouri.

Thank you, Representative Christofanelli, for protecting individual liberty and free enterprise in the states. Congratulations on being the newest ALEC-FreedomWorks State Legislator of the Month.
