Priority-Based Budgeting is Right Solution for Wyoming

Wyoming can no longer afford to ignore the elephant in the room – budget shortfalls as far as the eye can see.

Unfortunately, Wyoming’s fiscal problems will not improve by applying status-quo “solutions,” such as enacting discriminatory tax increases, raiding non-general fund accounts and refusing to fully fund pensions.

Accounting gimmicks will not resolve the structural deficit. This broken budget process should be replaced with priority-based budgeting, focused on delivering results for hardworking taxpayers.
