The Past, Present and Future of Common Core Part 2

 

In January, the Task Force on Education conducted a three-part series, “The Past, Present and Future of Common Core.” This three-part series was designed to serve as an informational forum to learn more about common core in a neutral environment.

Part two focused on the present position of Common Core in Virginia and Florida. Florida State Senator Kelli Stargel discussed Florida’s original implementation process, testing, the revised state standards and the importance of rigorous curriculum. Virginia State Senator Richard Black discussed Virginia’s decision to opt out of common core, federal overreach and the state’s current academic standards.

The second installment, seen in the above video, was presented by Senator Kelli Stargel from Florida, Senator Richard Black from Virginia and moderated by Representative Wendy Horman from Idaho.
