ALEC-FreedomWorks Legislator of the Week

Representative Heath VanNatter is a native of Indiana born in Howard County. He is currently serving in his fourth term representing the 38th District of the Indiana House of Representatives. Rep. VanNatter is the owner and operator of VanNatter Construction, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Indiana Builders Association and the Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders. Additionally, he is the past President of the Howard County Home Builders Association, of which he is also a current board member.

Representative VanNatter was first elected to the Indiana House in 2010, and since then has served on a number of committees within the chamber. He has served on the Environmental Affairs and Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committees since his election, serving as Vice Chair of the latter from 2011 until 2016, when he took over chairmanship of the Committee on Employment, Labor, and Pensions, which he holds in the current legislative session.

Given Rep. VanNatter’s livelihood as a small business owner and local employer, he understands the needs of small business owners, and the need for fiscal responsibility in the state of Indiana. He works to fight overregulation and advocate for safe and affordable housing, and has sponsored and co-authored legislation to that end.

In his personal life, Rep. VanNatter and his wife Felicia reside in western Howard County with their three children: Madison, Bella and Cole. In addition, VanNatter is a member of the Howard County Republican Party Steering Committee, and he and his family are active members of Faith Church of Christ in Burlington, IN.
