ALEC-FreedomWorks Legislator of the Week

Representative Mike La Rosa is a native Floridian and was born in Miami, Florida. He received his B.A. in Interpersonal Communications from the University of Central Florida. Outside of his work in the legislature, Rep. La Rosa serves as a real estate and development broker at La Rosa Realty.

In 2012, Rep. La Rosa was elected to the Florida House of Representatives representing District 42. He is an active member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and serves as the Florida State Chair. Rep. La Rosa has sponsored and co-sponsored legislation focused on lowering taxes across the state of Florida as well as legislation aimed at eliminating onerous regulations that hurt small business owners.  As a businessman, he understands how overt government overregulation can hinder the success of businesses across his home state.

In addition to his work in the legislature, Rep. La Rosa is active on numerous committees and subcommittees. He is the Chair of the Tourism & Gaming Control Subcommittee, a member of the Ways and Means Committee, a member of the Commerce Committee, a member of the Pre K-12 Quality Subcommittee, a member of the Careers and Competition Subcommittee and a member of the Transportation & Tourism Appropriations Subcommittee.

In his personal life, Rep. La Rosa lives in Osceola County with his wife Holly and three sons: Landon, Aiden and Liam.
