ALEC Second Vice Chairman Linda Upmeyer in the The Gazette:
At a time when our nation needs to be focused on job creation and a more effective and efficient government, I am thankful there is a place where state legislators are already hard at work. The American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, brings legislators together to share and develop policies that focus on three priorities:
- Promoting legislation that creates a more transparent, accountable government.
- Supporting policies that place a priority on free enterprise and consumer choice.
- Advancing tax policies that are fair and simple and spur competitiveness
The American Legislative Exchange Council is the largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization of state legislators in the United States. The Council is governed by state legislators who comprise the Board of Directors and is advised by the Private Enterprise Advisory Council, a group of private, foundation and think tank members.
