State Legislators, Business Leaders and Policy Experts for Three-Day Conference

ALEC First Vice Chair Rep. Phil King to Serve as 2015 National Chair

Austin, Texas (August 6, 2014)— Representative Phil King joinedstate legislators, business leaders, citizen groups and policy experts from around the country in Dallas from July 30-Aug. 1 for the 41st American Legislative Exchange Council Annual Meeting. The three-day conference provided opportunities for attendees to exchange ideas and learn about the latest state public policy trends and research in an academic setting. The conference also introduced the next ALEC National Chair, Rep. Phil King, who currently serves as First Vice Chair. Rep. King will take on the one-year National Chair position this December.

“The American Legislative Exchange Council provides state legislators with the opportunity to meet with colleagues from across the country and to hear unique perspectives on policy from the private sector,” said Rep. Phil King, ALEC First Vice Chair. “As the incoming National Chair, I look forward to working with ALEC members in Texas and around the country to advance the principles of limited government, free markets and federalism throughout our great county.”

The American Legislative Exchange Council is the country’s largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization of state legislators. The organization fosters relationships between private and public sector members from around the country to develop best practice solutions to various state issues.

The ALEC Annual Meeting provided attendees with opportunities to hear from notable speakers, including Texas Governor Rick Perry, economist Dr. Arthur Laffer, Heritage Foundation Chief Economist Steve Moore, former presidential candidate Herman Cain, former HP CEO Carly Fiorina, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt.The full list of speakers can be found here.
