ALEC Builds Momentum, Welcomes New Leadership, Fresh Perspectives

Arlington, Virginia (July 25, 2014)—The American Legislative Exchange Council today announced the addition of three new members of the ALEC Private Enterprise Advisory Council (PEAC). Steve DelBianco of NetChoice, Steve Woods of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and Don Lee of K12 Inc. will join the 23 member PEAC, which advises the ALEC National Board of Directors.

“Steve DelBianco, Steve Woods and Don Lee are valuable additions to the Privacy Enterprise Advisory Council,” said Lisa B. Nelson, CEO of the American Legislative Exchange Council. “As ALEC grows and includes new perspectives and points of view, the voices of small business, the Internet community and education choice are invaluable to our discussions.”

PEAC members serve in an advisory capacity to the ALEC Board of Directors. The National Board of Directors, which is comprised of 23 state legislators, has final decision-making authority on all ALEC policies and initiatives.

Steve DelBianco is the Executive Director of NetChoice, a trade association that promotes choice and commerce on the internet. Steve Woods is the Senior Vice President of State Operations at NFIB, the leading small-business advocacy association that represents more than 350,000 small and independent business owners around the nation. Don Lee is the Vice President for Government Affairs for K12 Inc., a leader in individualized learning and the nation’s foremost provider of technology-powered proprietary online solutions for students in kindergarten through high school.

The arrival of the new PEAC members coincides with the ALEC 41st Annual Meeting in Dallas. During the three-day conference, state legislators, business leaders, policy experts and citizen organizations will come together to share experiences and ideas and develop research-based model policies focused on limited government, free markets and federalism.

The American Legislative Exchange Council is a 501(c)(3) educational organization that provides nonpartisan research, study and analysis to its members. ALEC facilitates interaction between public and private sector leaders, think tanks and citizen groups through meetings and model policy development.
