Please join the American Legislative Exchange Council in Kansas City, Missouri for the 2014 Spring Task Force Meeting. This meeting is a great opportunity to meet with legislative leaders from all 50 states and to discuss the issues facing your community.

Kansas City has so much to offer: from world-renowned fountains, to a nationally recognized dining district and, of course – the barbeque.

Registration Policies

Spouse/Guest Registration

Spouse / guest registration is meant to accommodate legal spouses and immediate family members. Attendees from the same organization must register independently. No exceptions will be made. Spouse / guest designation will be clearly visible on name badge.

Registration Confirmation Information

Online registrants will receive immediate email confirmation. If registering by form, confirmation will be emailed within 72 hours of receipt of payment.

Registration Cancellation/Refund Policy

Registrations cancelled prior to 5:00pm EST April 4, 2014 are subject to a $100 cancellation fee. Registrations are non-refundable after 5:00pm EST April 4, 2014. All refund requests must be made in writing and sent via email to meetings@alec.org. Registration fees may be transferred from one registrant to another. Please send a transfer request in writing via email to meetings@alec.org.

Accomodations

Kansas City Kansas City Marriott Downtown is SOLD OUT. However, ALEC has secured a small, secondary block of rooms at the Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown. This hotel is located directly across the street from the Marriott and is very convenient for those who will not be able to stay in our host hotel. Please email Courtney Cook to make your reservation today.

For the Spring Task Force Summit, ALEC has reserved a block of rooms at a special rate for May 1st and 2nd at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown.

This will be the location of our meetings and the Kansas City Reception. The highly discounted rate of $149 per night (plus tax) will only be available until April 4th, unless the room block sells out before this date. Don’t wait to reserve your rooms today!

Transportation

SuperShuttleBook your SuperShuttle reservation to/from the Marriott Downtown Hotel now to receive the $6 discount. The American Legislative Exchange Council rate is $30 round-trip, per person, shared-ride.

Just go to the website at http://groups.supershuttle.com/americanlegislativeexchangecouncil.html and click on the BOOK ONLINE button. Conference attendees arriving on separate flights or airlines are required to make individual reservations.

We also offer exclusive service to/from KCI with no stops. Advance reservations are required and can be placed online. Upon arrival at KCI, collect your luggage, and then check in at the SuperShuttle booth/kiosk located across from each baggage claim area. A Customer Service Representative will meet you at each designated pick up location and arrange SuperShuttle service to your destination.

If a CSR is not available, please use our automated Kiosk system located in front of the guest services booth. Or, pick up the black customer service courtesy phone located next to the SuperShuttle office window. You must check-in inside of the airport. Any registered attendee is permitted to sit in and observe the Task Force luncheons and meetings. There is a designated area for non-voting members in each room.

9. Are there sponsorship opportunities available?

10. What is the closet airport to the hotel?

The closet airport is Kansas City International (airport code, MCI). Please note, this airport is in Kansas City, Kansas however, Kansas City, MO shares the same airport as the two cities are a short distance from each other. The ALEC meeting will be in Kansas City, MO. Due to the schedule of events, it is recommend that you fly in on Thursday evening and out on Saturday morning.

11. How can I get to the hotel from the airport?

There will be a “Super Shuttle” available with a discounted rate. You can make reservations at the following number or link. The airport also has taxis available outside of the baggage claim area.

Kid’s Congress Registration

This year, ALEC will partner with the ACCENT on Children’s Arrangements, Inc. to provide exciting children’s programs for the 2014 ALEC Annual Meeting. To learn about the many fun activities the program offers, please visit the 2014 ALEC Kids’ Congress website.

How to register for Kids’ Congress

1) Complete the ALEC Annual Meeting registration process

2) After completing the ALEC registration process for Kids’ Congress, fill out and submit the ACCENT Registration Form and Waiver to the address provided on the form.

Once you arrive onsite, parents will first go to the ALEC Registration Desk to pick up the child(ren)’s badges for entry into the Kids’ Congress Program. After picking up the badge(s) at the ALEC Registration Desk, they will be directed to the ACCENT Check-In Desk to check in and have a photo made. Anyone who will be authorized to drop off or pick up a child will be required to be photographed at check-in. This process can take up to 30 minutes the first time they register. At ACCENT check-in, the parent will be provided with a package of materials outlining specific scheduling for your child. Registration will open from noon to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29th and then at 7:30 a.m. each day thereafter.
